He has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Newport Folk Festival, and his work has been featured on National Public Radio. He began his career as a group leader of short-term study abroad programs in Mongolia and China, and worked for 17 years supporting School for International Training\u2019s study abroad Africa programs, where he also filled a variety of roles, including in communications, operations, program development, and adjunct faculty. Michael is the Director of Community Engagement at Retreat Farm, a land-based non-profit based in Vermont. Michael holds a BA in ethnomusicology from Bates College, a certificate in folk music, an MA in International Education, and an Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from University of Vermont.
